As the summer draws to a close (I’m sure some people are wondering if it’s started yet!) hopefully there will be one or two opportunities to enjoy a tipple in the sun.  Here are a couple of our favourite twists on some classic summer cocktails for you to try.

 

Strawberry & Balsamic Mojito

A fruity twist on your classic Mojito – perfect for a lazy summer afternoon.

What you’ll need – 

  • 50ml Bacardi Carta Negra rum
  • 25ml fresh lime juice
  • 12.5ml equal part sugar syrup
  • 3 Strawberries
  • 5 Mint Leaves
  • 5ml White Modena Balsamic vinegar
  • Ice

How to make –

  • Muddle strawberries in the bottom of the shaker
  • Add all other ingredients and shake hard with ice
  • Double strain into a highball glass filled with cubed ice
  • Garnish with a mint sprig and strawberry

 

Blood Orange Margarita

A tasty riff on one of the worlds most iconic and recognisable cocktails.

What you’ll need –

  • 35ml Calle 23 Anejo Tequila
  • 15ml Cointreau
  • 5ml Campari
  • 20ml Blood Orange juice
  • 20ml lime juice
  • 8ml equal parts simple syrup
  • Ice
  • Slice of Blood Orange

How to make –

  • Shake all the ingredients together with the ice and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice
  • Garnish with the slice of Blood Orange.  You could also sugar the rim of the glass if you like your cocktails sweet.

 

French 75

An elegant and easy drinking sparkling cocktail great for any summer occasion

What you’ll need –

  • 30ml Tanqueray Gin
  • 12.5ml lemon juice
  • 6ml equal parts simple syrup
  • Lanson NV Champagne
  • twist of lemon

How to make –

  • Shake the first 3 ingredients together and double strain into a chilled champagne glass
  • Top with the champagne and garnish with a lemon twist
