With the wedding season only a few months away we thought we would share our thoughts on the expected trends for wedding drinks this year.  From the comeback of Champagne through to the re-emergence of classic cocktails, let us guide you through what we think are the big changes in wedding drinks for this year.

Wedding Drinks

Champagne is Back!

Champagne will be back with a bang in 2016!  The popularity of Prosecco was fading during 2015 and this trend looks set to continue in 2016 as couples look to treat their guests to the more premium and luxurious option of Champagne.  Another change is the move towards Champagne coupes rather than traditional flutes, offering couples an alternative with a sophisticated twist.

If you want something a little different why not try Nyetimber English Sparkling wine at your wedding?  Rich and creamy with tangy citrus notes, great bang for your buck.

Boutique Drinks Stations

Boutique drink stations serving up smaller servings of boutique bourbons, gins, tequilas and craft beers is a must have in 2016 for your bespoke weddings.  The emphasis is very much on quality rather than quantity with an increasingly educated consumer.  Reel Time Bars offers boutique drink stations for weddings and events staffed by our kowledgeable drinks aficionados.  We also offer portable draught lager dispensing equipment should you want to offer some craft lager on tap rather than in bottles.

Designated Drivers

Posh softs and Mocktails will have an increasing prominence at weddings due to the changing social trends towards alcohol, coupled with the tightening of drink drive legislation in Scotland. Often in the past non-drinkers were somewhat overlooked at weddings and catered for with either a glass of orange juice or a can of coke.  In 2016 we will see a wider selection of premium soft drinks and non-alcoholic cocktails for sober guests.  A few simple options that we recommend and can offer as part of our bar selection are

Fentimans Curiosity Cola -Simply serve over ice with a wedge of lime.

Fentimans Rose Lemonade – Simply served over ice with an orange wheel.

Apple Mojito – Churn apple juice over crushed ice with lime, simple syrup and fresh mint.

Classic Cocktails

Classic cocktails for drinks receptions, aperitifs and digestifs will have some added popularity this year with a shifting trend towards classics from yesteryear.  The provision of these mixed drinks can certainly add some glamour and sophistication to your big day.  Here are some of our most popular cocktails booked in for the coming wedding season.

Crouching Gin Hidden Pineapple – Gin mixed with lime, peychaud bitters, pineapple cordial syrup and mint.

Aperitif Drink
Negroni – Gin stirred over ice with Campari and sweet Vermouth.  Garnish with an orange twist
